The Sensory Hub activity was organized with the objective of introducing students to the concept of sensory exploration and enhancing their understanding of the five senses — sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch.
The session began with a lively circle time discussion, where students learned about the five senses and how each one helps us experience and understand the world around us. Following this, children enthusiastically participated in a variety of hands-on sensory experiences, including:
Mystery Bag: Identifying smooth and rough objects through the sense of touch.
Animal Sounds: Recognizing and responding to different animal sounds.
Mixing Paint: Exploring color formation through visual and tactile engagement.
Magnifying Glass Exploration: Observing pom poms and squeeze balls in detail.
Kaleidoscope Viewing: Experiencing visual exploration through colorful patterns.
Shake and Listen: Differentiating sounds through auditory discrimination.
Find the Differences: Developing visual discrimination skills through picture observation.
Walk-and-Feel: Experiencing and comparing different textures through movement.
Students participated with great enthusiasm and displayed keen curiosity throughout the session. The activity not only fostered sensory awareness but also enhanced observation, concentration, and communication skills, making learning both enjoyable and meaningful.
