- Learning hubs
The instructor came to each hubs and discussed about the methodologies..
The phonics cluster is made with one vowel and three consonants. With CVC children will learn many vocabularies because of this phonic cluster. It develops reading fluency.
SEL: 7 strategies to be implemented in think room. For example ‘Give me 5’ the teacher have to model the Give me 5 comments by saying the comments with action from the first day of school. And for ‘Where am I?’ teacher can use single card one side green and another side red or instead of card teacher can instruct kids to raise right/left hand or thumbs up/down.
E2R2: Engage, Explore, Reinforce, Review. The LEs have activities divided under these four sections for the teaching – learning process and help to achieve the objectives of the learning experiences.
Learning hubs:
- Evident spaces to be made for each hub.
- Initially two hubs to be made in think room. One with teacher led and another is independent (Busy bee). That busy bee activities (manipulative /reading story reader/reading sight words/ Little thinker book work/drawing) has to be familiar with children. Before starting the hub, work the activity as in whole class.
- Believe the children. Engage children to work independently. Routines to involve children from day1.
- Beginning to end the instructions to the children to be given clearly. Instructions familiarity from beginning to end.
Justification questions: In story LE why questions to be asked to children for reasoning. No fact questions to be posted. Raise questions and connect with the characters in the story.
Show & tell: The instructor conducted the show and tell activity about three volunteers. In think room teacher have to place few objects on the table. Let the children choose any object and talk on their own words. Initially teacher has to modeling the activity with simple words. By this activity the child gets comfortable and confidence to express themselves in front of the class.
Chrysalis systemic practices: To improve speaking ability of children, tell me about yourself and show & tell activity to be practice as a routine by 10 min during circle time (Daily 3 to 4 children can participate). To enhance the children to read sight words, teacher have to insist the sight words again and again while reading the story reader and can give clues and help children to read the sight words.
Finally, each grade teachers were asked about how many days required for settling time for children and to form the hubs and make it as a routine from 1st week of July.
Implementation planned for the month June & July
